Autism
"EVERY STREET FOR AUTISM"
Hi my name is Levi Triffitt,
I have two brothers Jarom and Corom and a sister Emily. I'm the oldest sibling in the family at age 31 and because of the people wev'e met i feel strongly we should tell our story.
My brother Corom now aged 25 has severe Autism and over the years has challenged us as a family but also helped us to grow. My brother Jarom and myself started a buisiness 15months ago called "Tassie Boys" which started with a film we produced ourselves and also which we funded with our life savings.
The film is shot all around Tasmania which is our home state featuring myself, Jarom and a close group of friends doing extreme sports and clean cut comedy.
The film has been popular around Tasmania and now throughout mainland Australia and online with our youtube channel receiving over 1million views. We do not want the film to be our main focus but rather what we are trying to achieve and our motivation behind the buisness.
The past 15 months has taught us so much, our brother Corom with Autism has full-time care, however many families around Australia do not, they may be stuck trying to run a buisness to survive, have 3 or 4 other kids in the family all while trying to cope with a severely Autistic child who needs 1 on 1 care 24/7, as was the case for our parents when we were young. Throughout Coroms life he has had alot of support from friends and family we now feel its time to give something back. Over the past 15 months Jarom and i have worked the streets of every city and small town in Tasmania and Victoria and also now parts of NSW and SA we are halfway to our goal of the whole of Australia. We have sold 1000s of copies of the film and though it is our buisness a good part of the money raised will go to families of Autism.
We have met over 100,000 people in this time and many believe in what we are trying to do. The journey hasn't been easy for either of us we have been abused, called names and more, we are both on the road with our families Jarom his wife and two daughters travelling towards West Australia and myself, my wife and three boys started in Victoria and are now in Griffith heading towards Queensland. We have had many people we have met who want to help and many who have encouraged us to tell our story. We want to share what we are about with everyone and to publicly thank those who have supported us thus far,
Levi Triffitt.
Update 21 December 2012
We were able to meet up with young Oscar yesterday who has Autism like our brother Corom. Oscar sadly just lost both his parents recently and his amazing aunty has given up everything and left her home and work in Qld to take fulltime care of him.
We have donated a substantial amount of money thanks to all the people around Australia who have supported us in this cause. We were given a lot of help from friends and family with our brother over the years so this is just something small we can do to help this little family this Christmas.
Thankyou to every1 the past 18months since we started TassieBoys we hope you all have an awesome Christmas.
